Right-on socially aware activist ? or annoying, squawking, self-obsessed attention seeker ?
You decide.. (cough - wanker !)
*PS not to be confused with middle-Englanders Russell Berry or Russell Beard either of whom may be any combination of the above

Bad 'Boyz' and 'Posh' Mummies
Instead of spending your ill-gotten gains on a black Range-Rover/Mercedes ML/BMW X-5 with blacked-out windows (yeah so kool) why not simply buy a black van ? You'll still be able to do the same amount of off-roading...
Yes, that's it - bugger all !

Scotland say no..
.. Salmond resigns, and so come the biographies of the dear fellow. Take this piece on www.bbc.co.uk for example
'His political roots set, Salmond took to campaigning for the SNP from an early age, even winning a mock election for the party at his primary school by promising to replace free school milk with ice cream.'
Sound familiar ?

The European Debate ..
It seems pretty obvious to me and anyone else that has studied human nature that the majority of folk will always 'look out for number 1'. European politicians and bureaucrats are no exception to this rule, they are pro-Europe because they personally profit from Europe. The grandiose heads of the gravy train wheeze and whine about how they are acting on behalf of the whole European population when of course any fool knows they are there to line their own pockets. Ask them for a tangible reason how, as a huge net contributor, we (UK) actually gain from Europe and you will be met with silence.. (cos therer ain't owt) or they might offer some pap about being a great club to be in, or we're stronger together etc.. Stronger against whom may I ask ? The Chinese ? Like they give a stuff. Then they might drivel on about the free trade which of course is great and something that UKIP have always agreed with (EEC yes, EU governed no.)
Little Nicky Cleggy tries his best to portray himself as a conviction politician believing in the European ideal. But why ? Because he has a fiery Spanish Mrs ? Because he truly believes in the wishy-washy arguments he spouts. No because like many failed career politicians before him (and he will fall by the wayside in short order) his future livelihood will no doubt depend on picking up one of the gravy train post in the EU. commission . He knows which side his bread's buttered make no mistake. There's only one (maybe two)conviction politicians in UK right now - one's Farage and the other is that misguided buffoon Salmond.

Jose Mourinho
Clever, psychoanalytical, mind-games expert tactician, or inarticulate, incoherent, claptrap merchant ?
Discuss.
On second thoughts don't bother - he's quite obviously a twat, albeit a rich one.

HS2 Fiasco
Here's the quote that puts the icing on the stupid cake aka the unwanted and unwarranted HS2 project..
'HS2 chairman, Sir David Higgins said that while this country produces some of the best engineers to be found anywhere in the world, the problem is that there aren’t enough of them, and there isn’t a long enough guaranteed work-stream to keep them here. So they tend to go overseas.'
So let's look at that again: there aren't enough of them [engineers he means] and there isn't enough work for them. WHAAT !!??
Let me tell you as an engineer (electronics) that there are in fact loads of them, so many in fact that I know several who have quit the profession due to low pay (a consequence of supply and demand David you see) and one in particular who opted to start work in the family minicab business.
The reason that the youth doesn't choose engineering are as follows: -
1) It's hard degree to obtain with lost of hard sums to get right.
2) The pay is lousy
3) You have to learn lost and lots of maths and stuff.
3) You will spend years paying off your debt.
4) Easy degrees with better pay prospects abound.
5) It's hard work.
Now if it's an infrastructure project we need how about a National network of proper cycle paths .. Nah too easy and not much prospect of a cost overrun.
